Each summer, the musical selections are chosen according to a concert theme. This summer’s theme is “California Dreamin'”. It’s a fun filled program featuring the classic Dream by Johnny Mercer, All I Have to Do is Dream, as sung by The Everly Brothers, Wheels of a Dream from "Ragtime" and of course California Dreamin', recorded first by The Mamas and The Papas, and then The Beach Boys. Click here for this summer's Concert Program In past years, performances have included singing at the Marin County Fair and as the opening act for the Marin Shakespeare Summer Theatre. It’s important that we share our music with the community, so we will be performing for at least two retirement homes before presenting a concert for the general public. This afternoon performance is always followed by a picnic, provided by the singers for our audience.
Registration fees are: Adult: $150 (After June 1 $180); Spouse: $140 (After June 1 $160; High School/College student: $99 (After June 1 $100; Child: $75 for first child, $50 each additional child. A Joyful Sound! is our summer mixed chorus, open to all who love to sing. Families are encouraged to participate with their children. Singers receive training in voice, musicianship, and performance from master conductor, Jan Pedersen Schiff. There are no audition requirements. This is a 10 week session. We understand you may miss a few rehearsals due to summer travel plans. A rehearsal CD of your voice part is provided to assist you with learning the music outside of the rehearsal time. There is a supervised play area for the children to retire to at 8:00 p.m.
